About Wobenzym Plus

Wobenzym Plus is a dietary, clinically researched Douglas Laboratories supplement and the newest addition to the Wobenzym product line. In fact, Wobenzym Plus is much more potent than its predecessors (see Wobenzym N) and has the most increased activity of them all. That aside, Wobenzym Plus also comes in a more convenient dose, which requires the intake of fewer pills than other Wobenzym formulations.

The systemic enzyme supplement helps the body maintain optimal joint function and healthy immune function, yet also provides temporary relief of muscle soreness, pains, and aches related to the everyday lifestyle/strain. Being a systemic enzyme supplement means that Wobenzym Plus is easily absorbed in the small intestine first and then works directly in the body to deliver a wide range of health benefits. Note that it is NOT a product whose role is to help with the digestion process, rather than a formula that does much more than just that.

How Wobenzym Plus

Works All Wobenzym formulas have proven useful for immune support. Numerous clinical studies also associate their use with sustaining optimal joint health. However, Douglas Laboratories has taken things a step further with Wobenzym Plus. The product contains a unique blend of enzymes that come from both animals and plants, which are backed up with clinical studies for supporting a plethora of regulatory processes in the human body. Through a particularly complex procedure and a long chain of events that take place inside the body once Wobenzym Plus is consumed, the body is able to maintain its normal immune functions while ensuring healthy wound healing processes. At the same time, the muscles and joints receive valuable support to ensure their healthy functions.

The formula comes in the form of enteric-coated tablets, which ensure that the enzymes indeed enter the stomach but are not broken down in there. Their end destination is the small intestine, where absorption eventually occurs.

The Significance of Enzymes in the Human Body

Enzymes are small wonders inside the body that bind to molecules and change them in very specific ways. To cut a long story short, enzymes are vital for nerve health and nerve function, digesting food, respiration, and numerous other bodily functions and chemical reactions. Their goal? To help speed up chemical reactions in the body as a means to keep it healthy and functioning at its best. In many cases, enzymes act as catalysts to a chemical reaction that requires significant energy to move forward. In this case, enzymes lower the needed energy and allow reactions to take place that would be impossible to occur otherwise.

To get an idea of how important enzymes really are, our metabolism (the very mechanism that actually keeps us alive) heavily relies on the work the enzymes do. The digestive system also needs enzymes to help break down large complex molecules into small particles so as to fuel the body with them (the smaller molecules). And, let’s not forget the contribution of enzymes in the replication of DNA. This involves unwinding the DNA coils every time a cell divides and then copying the information included in the DNA to the new cell. Finally, the liver needs enzymes to break down toxins in the body.

The issue with enzymes is that they can work only in certain conditions and temperatures around the normal body temperature. Environments with lower temps will slow them down significantly. Enzymes also need a certain pH range, depending on which part of the body they are in. For example, stomach enzymes work optimally at pH 2.0 while intestinal enzymes need pH 7.5. Sadly, changes in temperature and/or pH can destroy enzymes. This is why supplementation with them might come into play.
