About D-Hist Jr.

D-Hist Jr. is an easily chewable tablet designed to support children facing seasonal challenges due to environmental allergens. Thanks to its targeted blend of botanicals, proteolytic enzymes, antioxidants, and flavonoids, the formula promotes healthy sinus and nasal passages for the little ones, who combat with irritation of the respiratory system and increased histamine. D-Hist Jr. also contains a potent flavonoid namely quercetin, known for supporting healthy histamine levels, as well as bromelain, which not only boosts the absorption of quercetin but also encourages mucosal health. As a result, the formula helps balance hyper-immune response in children while the N-acetyl cysteine frees the airways, enabling normal mucus viscosity.

Flavonoids and Their Therapeutic Properties

Flavonoids come with innumerable therapeutic properties and provide both medical and health benefits, including the treatment and/or prevention of a disease, which validates them as excellent nutraceuticals (aka nutritional supplements). According to studies, flavonoids possess:

Anti-oxidant properties – Present in vegetables and fruits, flavonoids contain catechins and flavones, both vital sources of antioxidants. They help combat damage from free radicals and aging, enhance drug detoxification, and lower the risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and liver disorder.

Antimicrobial properties – Plant flavonoids have anti-infective attributes. In some cases, they are even used to boost the immune system against diseases. The increasing resistance of the body to antibiotics has made infections eve harder to treat. Flavonoids are found to fight antibiotic-resistant bacteria and combat viruses, such as RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus).

Anti-diabetic properties – Natural flavonoids present in plants (i.e., quercetin and hesperidin) can help cure diabetes as they can inhibit the key enzymes involved in the digestion of carbohydrates (hence, reduce hyperglycemia) and interrupt the absorption of glucose from the intestine while also restraining catalyst aldose reductase, which contributes to the conversion of sugars to sugar alcohols and is related to neuropathy, retinopathy, and other diabetic intricacies.

Flavonoids are also evidenced to play a vital role in preventing cardiovascular diseases (they help lower glucose and LDL cholesterol levels) and fight damage caused by oxidative stress. Among many others, flavonoids come with anti-cancer agents that lower the risk of cancer and may also have the potential to treat cancer too. Finally, they have potent anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective (nerve-relaxing, mood lifting, etc.), and anti-fungal properties too.

D-Hist Jr. Ingredients

Some of the key compounds of the formula are:

Quercetin – A flavonoid widely found in tea leaves, onions, oak trees, and plants with a powerful antioxidant activity. Research has also shown that it helps mediate the release of active inflammatory compounds, such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which, in turns, fosters the support of immune health. Lastly, quercetin can minimize the release of the compound that causes hypersensitivity during seasonal changes, namely histamine.

Bromelain – This is a proteolytic plant enzyme that is usually traced in pineapple (the fruit and stem of the plant). It is found to help reduce the circulating of protein complexes associated with seasonal discomfort and hyper-immune sensitivity, improve the absorption of quercetin, and breakdown large protein complexes.

Stinging Nettle Leaf – A plant with the ability to balance immune response in nasal passages, paranasal sinuses, and airways of the lower respiratory tract. The stinging nettles leaf can also help control histamine action and the formation of prostaglandin and support a balanced inflammatory response while even controlling the degranulation of mast cells.

N-Acetyl Cysteine – This amino acid precursor is a forerunner of an essential antioxidant in the human body (known as glutathione). Together, N-acetyl cysteine and glutathione help lower mucus viscosity, which results in improved respiratory health distinguished by clear airways.

Vitamin C – It is a vitamin that the human body cannot synthesize so the only way to receive this vital nutrient is via food intake/diet. It comes with countless health-boosting attributes but is widely known for its potent antioxidant and immune-supporting activities. Another primary quality of vitamin C is that it can help relief from symptoms related to seasonal allergies, given that it can effectively deactivate histamine.
