Natural Approach to Adrenal Health

Adrenal fatigue is something that could happen after prolonged physical, emotional, or mental stress. Often we ignore the symptoms associated with adrenal fatigue which can range from fatigue, sleep issues, lacking focus, and memory issues. It can leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and short-tempered. 

Adrenal glands are what our body relies on to monitor our “fight or flight” response. When we are stressed our adrenal glands release adrenaline, making us more alert and focused. Our bodies also release cortisol which converts protein and stored sugar (glycogen) to energy. Ashwagandha root an herb used in ayurvedic healing, can help restore balance in our adrenal glands. It is used for strength and vitality and supporting normal blood sugar levels. Another herb which slows the breakdown of adrenal hormones in the body is licorice root.
