Manufacturer: Metagenics A nutritional beverage mix blend of soluble and insoluble fibers with a low allergy potential. MetaFiber is a low allergy, low sodium powdered fiber product. Each serving provides approximately 88% insoluble and 12% soluble dietary fiber, designed to help promote normal bowel function. MetaFiber may be used as a dietary fiber supplement with any of the UltraBalance spectrum of products or on its own as an additional source of fiber. MetaFiber is formulated from cereal grain, vegetable and fruit sources and provides the benefits of dietary fiber without the more allergenic or hypersensitizing fibers such as psyllium or wheat. An important function of insoluble fiber is its role in increasing fecal bulk. This mechanism is a result of the inability of bacteria in the intestines to break down insoluble fiber as thoroughly as soluble fiber. Residual fiber which is present in the large intestine helps to increase fecal bulk. The less the insoluble fiber is ground, the more its fecal bulking capacity is increased. For this reason, the insoluble fiber sources in MetaFiber have not undergone extensive milling, and therefore, may contribute a slightly gritty mouth feel. MetaFiber may also assist in rebalancing intestinal flora and may help normalize short-chain fatty acid protection.
