Astragalus root, or Huang-Qi (Astragalus membranaceus Bunge), contains many compounds, including isoflavones, triterpenoid saponins including astragolasides I to VII, astra-membrannins, soyasapogenols, polysaccharides, choline, betaine, and kuma-takenin. This extract is standardized to at 0.4% 4' hydroxy-3'-methoxyisoflavone-7. Astralagus Max-V, provided by Douglas Laboratories, supplies 500 mg of standardized astragalus in a vegetarian capsule. Astragalus Max-V may be a useful dietary supplement for individuals wishing to support their immune system. Used since ancient times in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) is important supplement for both eastern and western herbalists.
