Manufacturer: Allergy Research Group For patients who are initially unable to tolerate Selenium Solution or Aller-Aid Formula I. Prepared solely from pure, high-mineral kelp. Selenium is an essential trace element that is "redox-active", i.e., highly active in electron exchange reactions. Antioxidant enzymes specialize in electron-exchange reactions that help protect the cells and tissues from free-radical and other oxidative "electron-stealers." Selenium is an essential component of glutathione peroxidase, being located at the "active site" of this major antioxidant enzyme. The evidence indicates that chemically sensitive persons tolerate selenium better as the sodium selenite than as selenomethionine. For selenium the range of intakes between benefit and potential toxicity is small, and only microgram (mcg) amounts are normally required on a daily basis (one microgram = one-millionth of a gram). The total daily intake of selenium from nutritional supplements should be carefully monitored, and we recommend not to exceed 400 micrograms per day. Ingredients: Kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) 200 mg Selenium 200 mcg, Iodine 30 mcg, (both from kelp) At least 15 other minerals. Naturally occurring iodine supplement. Suggested Use: 1 cap daily. Maximum 2 a day. Do not exceed 400 mcg of Selenium per day from all sources.
